Last week, Mrs. Phillips’ 4th graders watched Because of Winn Dixie, the novel they had been studying. Just like the party in the novel, the students enjoyed egg salad on crackers, pickles, dump punch, root beer barrels and strawberry candies (since we couldn’t find Littmus lozenges). They also liked comparing the novel to the movie.
Raccoon XC girls are going to STATE! Congratulations! The girls placed 3rd overall out of 15 schools and Scout took home a 2nd place medal! 💙❤️

Salem Fire Department visited Raccoon today. Mr. Adam and Mr. Mike taught us about fire safety.
Raccoon XC had a great morning at DuQuoin! The girls took on a big course at the State Fairgrounds with 175 runners and 44 teams! Scout crushed it and finished 3rd overall. In the open race, Ava came in 4th and Izzy finished 16th! Everyone ran hard, had fun, and then met up with parents and reammates for lunch after the race. Great job girls! 💙❤️ Thank you to everyone for supporting our little team!

RGS girls' basketball tryouts will be on Monday, 29th, and Tuesday, 30th, from 4:30-6:00 pm. All 5th-8th-grade girls interested in trying out must have a current physical and must be passing all classes. Proper shoes are required and must be present on both days.
RGS boys basketball will have OPEN GYM on Thursday from 6-8 pm and Friday from 3-4:30 pm this week. Tryouts will take place on September 29th and 30th from 6-8 pm. Those who try out must have a current physical on file and must have passing grades. Proper gym shoes are mandatory for try-outs. This is for 5th-8th-grade boys.
